Temple Emanu-El is excited to welcome Rabbi Paul Kerbel as our interim Assistant Rabbi.
Rabbi Kerbel will officially join our Temple community and commence work on July 1, 2018 and conclude his work on June 30, 2019.
Rabbi Paul Kerbel has devoted his rabbinic career to congregations in Roslyn Heights, NY, Marietta, GA, Milwaukee, WI, Cleveland, OH and Bowie, MD. Rabbi Kerbel is a graduate of the Joint Program of Columbia University and The Jewish Theological Seminary of America, receiving his Masters, Ordination and Doctor of Divinity from JTS.
Rabbi Kerbel has served on numerous committees and the Executive Council of The Rabbinical Assembly, is Chair of the Rabbinic Campaign for the Masorti Foundation for Conservative Judaism in Israel, a member of the Global Jewish Community Committee of UJA Federation New York and a member of the Board of Governors of The New York Board of Rabbis.
Rabbi Kerbel and his wife, Melissa. who is the Director of Development of USCJ, United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism, are proud of their five children, Sam Kerbel and Aliza Romirowsky, Judah and Eliana Kerbel and Micha Kerbel. Sam led youth High Holy Day services at Temple Emanu-El during his years at JTS. The Kerbel family looks forward to being part of the Temple Emanu-El family.
