This time of year always proves challenging to have a Minyan, a quorum of 10 adult Jewish people for prayer in the morning and evening. But this year, that was not the case.

Many of you heard the call and went out of your way to ensure we had a Minyan, and then some. Last Sunday 25 people were in attendance. A few nights ago, 19 and 26. All because many were making sure that those that needed to say Kaddish, could. What a beautiful act. What an eager way to demonstrate community and friendship.

I want to thank all of you for going the extra mile to make Minyan during this time. Thanks for coming as a family and modeling the proper ethic for your kids. And thank you for being there for our congregants in need; the ones you know and even the face you recognize but don’t know the name.

It is just one of many, many reasons why I am so proud to be the Rabbi at Temple Emanu-El.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 2016! Please keep up the great Minyan attendance.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi David-Seth Kirshner
