Do you ever feel like you are constantly getting ready?

Whether getting ready for school to start, for the big Bar Mitzvah or wedding, for a major trip somewhere we are always mapping out our plans for tomorrow and the big things on the horizon.

That sums up our week at the Temple. We have been preparing for Religious School to start back up, High Holy Day preparation is in the thick of things and our building is getting shiny for our busy season. It is more than ironic that the Torah portion that falls this week talks in detail about preparedness. Ki Tavo gives us instructions for entering the land of Israel, knowing Moses will not be with us yet, we will have plans to keep, and rules to follow.

During this time of preparedness, please do not discount being emotionally prepared for the Holiday season too. This season is all about introspection and making right that which is wrong within ourselves and making things right with our neighbor. Take the necessary time beyond setting the table and getting school supplies to get centered with God and your inner-self for what promises to be a New Year of peace and blessings.

Shabbat Shalom,
